Pauline Wangari - Nominee for Community Award

Pauline Wangari Mwangi is a passionate community leader with over 10 years experience as a Developmental Service worker in Social Justice, Advocacy, Human rights, Diversity, Health Policy and Governance.

She has advocated for a wide range of causes like women’s empowerment, Gender Equality, HIV/AIDS, immigration, homelessness, people with developmental disabilities and mental health.  In 2016, Kenya Community Ontario celebrated and awarded 15 youth in Ontario where she chaired the Kenya Community Ontario Women Forum.

She has spearheaded various community food security initiatives in the Greater Toronto Area including fundraising for Food Banks.

She facilitated the 2016 Summer Youth Conference that brought youth from her native country Kenya.

She has been a guest speaker in various forums such as Youth Empowerment, Kenya Diaspora Homecoming Convention organized by the Kenya Diaspora Alliance in 2016.

She is a supply teacher at Peel District School Board and is a Member of ODSP Action Coalition.

She is passionate about her community and supports many initiatives to advance women issues, diversity and youth outreach.  She is currently the President and Founder of Kenyan Women in Canada Association, KWICA.

Through her organization, Canada Africa Marketing and Development Agency - CAMDA where she is the CEO, Pauline has been involved in development and promotion of trade and investment opportunities between Canada, USA and Africa.

She has always had a keen interest in the politics and is active in the political arena as a volunteer and is actively involved in giving back to the community both in Canada and Kenya. 

She is the co-founder of Hope and Vision School in Kenya which caters for over 200 children since 2006.

She is also an author of an upcoming book “CLARITY” subtitle: Ignite The Power Within You

She studied Business Management at ICS Canada and is a graduate of Humber College as Developmental Service Worker and currently a Disability Study Student at Ryerson University.

She currently sits at Human Rights Committee Review board, and Student Alumni Advisory Committee of Ryerson University.
