'Am turning these Scars into Stars’

Flora Igoki Terah is a Kenyan-Canadian author, a compelling storyteller and a most sought after inspirational speaker who shares her powerful lived experiences of undying human spirit to help advocate for women and girls rights around the world.Asa victim of horrible violent acts, the need for peaceful solutions is never far from her thoughts. She has combined her experience as a fundraiser, grassroots organizer, an educator and as a women's and girl’s right defender with experience as a survivor of violence to become a powerful role model for Human Rights defender in Canada and around the world. 
Since arriving in Canada in 2009, she has been active in a number of Canadian organizations sharing her expertise and participating in public education campaigns on human rights. She has continued this advocacy with United Nations, the Stephen Lewis Foundation, Jean Sauve Foundation, Brian Bronfman, McGill University, York University, Carlton University, Canadian Lawyers Abroad, Stafford Festivals, Kenya Women in North America(KWITU),Pearson College,Cedar Crest College ,The Rotary club of Monroeville among others. 
Through her personal experiences and lessons-learned Flora has inspired audiences to donate millions of dollars to Human Rights Education and Policy changes that has empower not only women and girls in Africa but also others around the world. A lot of what she has done is deemed motivational, and supports her desire to end discrimination and all forms of violence against women and children, thus creating participation of women in all spheres of leadership. 

She is the Founder of Canadian non for profit organization WAVIP-EA that partners with organizations in North America to help advocate for women and girl’s human rights, supporthealing and engage with youth to develop leadership for prevention of future violence.
Flora also sits at Community Advisory Committee at St Michael’s Hospital-Arthur Sommer Rotenberg where she also advocates and creates awareness of suicide and mental illness to help decrease stigma associated with suicide and encourage conversation about important issues on mental health.
